Since the CPR extended to cables, a cable's Euroclass (Fca up to B2ca and beyond) is decided by fire tests: the EN 50399 bunched-cable test measures heat release (FIGRA), total heat, smoke production and flaming droplets under a hood; the single-cable flame test of EN 60332-1-2 screens ignitability; and additional smoke density (EN 61034) and acidity (EN 60754-2) measurements supply the s and a additions to the class.
The cable laboratory set
The centre is the bunched cable rig in its EN 50399 configuration, flanked by the single-cable vertical flame arrangement, the 3-metre cube for EN 61034 smoke, and, for fire-resistant cables outside the CPR reaction-to-fire logic, the IEC 60331 circuit integrity tester. The cable family page gathers the set.
